The incident occurred on December 25, 2020, when McMillan was shot following a reported argument.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting was reported late in the evening.
Law enforcement received a notification from ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system, at 10:24 p.m. for the address of 5055 Jeffreys Street. Shortly after, a 911 call also reported the shooting at the same location. When patrol officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a Black male adult suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Sunrise Trauma for medical attention. Tragically, he did not survive his injuries.
The case, cataloged under number LLV201200107072 by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, remains an open investigation. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, police announced that they were actively searching for a suspect. However, as of the latest available information, the suspect in the death of David McMillan Jr. is officially listed as unknown.
