On the evening of June 23, 2021, the life of 18-year-old Shania James, a Black female, was tragically cut short in a northwest Las Vegas residence. Responding to a 10 p.m. report of a shooting on Jaquita Avenue, police discovered a chaotic scene. Inside the home, they found Shania, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to her head and back and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death was subsequently ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner's office.
