In the pre-dawn hours of July 3, 2021, a sense of unease settled over an apartment complex on the 4600 block of West Oakey Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada. A 911 call was placed to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reporting a suspicious situation. Before officers could arrive, the situation escalated, and the caller updated the report to include the sound of gunshots piercing the early morning quiet.
