In the late afternoon of July 2, 2022, a violent encounter at a Las Vegas 7-Eleven permanently altered the lives of several individuals. Eduardo Moya-Robaina, a 28-year-old White male, was fatally shot in the chest outside the convenience store located at 1601 W. Oakey Blvd. The events leading to his death began to unfold around 4 p.m. when a man and his girlfriend arrived at the store.
While the woman went inside the 7-Eleven, her boyfriend became involved in a heated altercation with
Moya-Robaina in the parking lot. The dispute escalated, and Moya-Robaina reportedly brandished a knife, stabbing the other man. At this moment, the man's girlfriend was exiting the store and witnessed the attack on her boyfriend. In response, she drew a firearm and shot Moya-Robaina a single time.
Following the shooting, the couple immediately fled the scene in their vehicle. Law enforcement was alerted and managed to stop their car on Interstate 15. The man who had been stabbed sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. His girlfriend was not injured during the incident.
The Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. In the immediate aftermath, authorities stated that it was too early to determine whether the woman who shot Moya-Robaina or her boyfriend would face any criminal charges.
