In the chill of a late November evening in Las Vegas, a dispute over the custody of a child tragically escalated into a fatal encounter for 25-year-old Ethan Hogan. On November 29, 2016, Hogan, a Black male, found himself in a heated argument with his ex-girlfriend, Janeica Butler, in the parking lot of her apartment complex on South Durango Drive. The disagreement, which reportedly also touched upon financial matters concerning a car loan, took a deadly turn.
