On the cold evening of February 17, 1972, a night out for 40-year-old John Bruns and his wife in Denver, Colorado, ended in tragedy. The White / Caucasian male and his spouse had enjoyed their time in the city and were returning to their vehicle, which was parked in the 1800 block of Welton Street. As Mr. Bruns settled into his car, the ordinary moments of concluding an evening were shattered by an unexpected and violent confrontation.
