Gerald Martinez, 25, male, Hispanic, left a nearby party on the night of February 26, 1993, and walked into an alley near the 2800 block of Stout and Champa Streets in Denver. Minutes later, neighbors reported gunfire. Responding officers found Martinez mortally wounded from multiple gunshot wounds, and despite their efforts and the rush of flashing lights, the scene yielded only fragments: scattered voices, the echo of shots, the thin winter air closing back over the alley.
