On February 7, 2017, 32-year-old Tim Cruz was shot and killed at around 1:00 a.m. near the RTD light rail station at 12th and Sheridan in Denver, Colorado. Cruz was targeted during a robbery carried out by two men, Ever Valles and Nathan Valdez, both 19 years old at the time. Surveillance footage from the station showed the suspects robbing Cruz before Valdez fatally shot him. Both men were later apprehended and charged.
