On a summer evening in Denver, Colorado, the vibrant atmosphere outside the Horizon Lounge was shattered by gunfire, leaving a community in mourning and a family grappling with a sudden and tragic loss. Dowan Lewis Alexander, a 39-year-old male, was killed on July 25, 2020, in a mass shooting that erupted near East 33rd Avenue and Hudson Street. The senseless act of violence also claimed the life of 42-year-old Leland L. Hines and left three other individuals wounded, two women and one man.
