On the evening of September 5, 2004, a young Black man named Deshaun Briscoe was standing on a corner at 3405 Fillmore Street in Denver with a group of his friends. The 22-year-old and his companions noticed a car drive by and circle the block. Shortly after, the scene took a violent turn when an unknown Black male, with his face obscured by a black scarf and dressed entirely in black, ran towards the group.
