Do you know who shot and killed Paul? In the fall of 2010, the life of 21-year-old Paul Quince Cortez was tragically cut short on a Denver street corner. On the evening of October 27th, a call to 911 reported a shooting at the intersection of Bruce Randolph Avenue and York Street. When police arrived, they discovered Cortez lying in the street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders transported him to Denver Health Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he died at the hospital.
The Denver coroner's office later officially identified Cortez as the victim. His death was ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Denver Police Department.
Detectives believe Cortez was involved in some type of encounter with an unknown individual or individuals just before the shooting. After firing several shots, the person or persons responsible fled the scene and have remained at large. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder. The case remains an unsolved homicide, listed in Colorado's cold case files, with authorities asking for anyone with information to come forward.
