On a Sunday morning, July 29th, 1973, the Denver Police Department was called to the area of East Colfax Avenue and Detroit Street on a report of a man down. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 27-year-old Adair Dotson, a Black male, who had been shot to death. His body was found in the parking lot of the apartment complex located at 1466 Detroit Street.
The investigation into the shooting death of Adair Dotson has spanned decades, yet the circumstances surrounding his murder
remain a mystery. To date, the suspect or suspects responsible for his death have never been identified, and no arrests have been made in the case. The motive for the shooting is also unknown.
The case has since been turned over to the Denver Police Department's Cold Case Unit in the hopes that new leads or information will emerge. Investigators continue to seek assistance from the public and are offering a reward for any information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the murder of Adair Dotson. The case remains an active and unsolved homicide investigation.
