In the late hours of November 11, 1988, what initially appeared to be a single-car accident on West 6th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard in Denver took a grim turn for first responders. The driver, Geoffrey Cagle, a 34-year-old white male, was discovered to have sustained a gunshot wound. Originally from Lakewood, where he worked as a car salesman, Cagle was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Geoffrey Cagle succumbed to his injuries and
passed away shortly after his arrival at the hospital on November 12, 1988. The investigation into the incident shifted from a traffic accident to a homicide, as it became clear that Cagle had been shot before the crash of his vehicle.
Decades later, the death of Geoffrey Cagle remains an unsolved cold case. The Denver Police Department continues to seek information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for his murder. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case, leaving the circumstances surrounding his death a mystery.
