Ismael Z. Chavez, a 39-year-old male police officer of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically died on July 11, 2020, in McAllen, Texas. Officer Chavez, along with his colleague Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr., was responding to a domestic disturbance call when they were ambushed at the front door of a residence. The suspect, identified as Aldon Jaramillo, 23, opened fire on the officers as they approached, killing both officers before turning the gun on himself.
