In the cold, celebratory air of New Year's Day in 1992, a young life was tragically cut short in Denver, Colorado. Eric Villar, an 11-year-old Hispanic male, was outside in the 2500 block of Emerson Street, joining in the festivities to welcome the new year. As the sounds of celebration filled the night, a gunshot, fired by an unknown individual or individuals, pierced the air and struck the young boy.
