In the spring of 1999, a dispute between neighbors in Denver's City Park West neighborhood culminated in a tragic and senseless act of violence. Jason Patrick Horsley, a 25-year-old male carpenter, was shot and killed on May 18, 1999, following a heated argument with his next-door neighbor. Horsley and his girlfriend had moved to the area with the dream of renovating a house, but their new life took a dark turn with the arrival of Malaika Tamu Griffin.
