On January 31, 2017, 56-year-old Scott Von Lanken, a security guard working for Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD), was fatally shot near Union Station while assisting two women with directions. Von Lanken, who was also a pastor, was approached from behind by 37-year-old Joshua Cummings, who shot him in the head at close range.
