On July 11, 2020, 17-year-old Davarie Armstrong lost his life to gun violence in Denver, Colorado. Armstrong, a charismatic and athletic student at South High School, was known for his involvement in sports, including football, basketball, and track. He had recently turned 17 and was on the path to graduate in 2021, having even gone on a tour of historically Black colleges and universities, aspiring to attend one for football.
