In a tragic turn of events on the evening of April 8, 2022, 14-year-old Adrion Foster, a male, lost his life in Denver, Colorado, in an incident that also claimed the lives of his 13-year-old friend, Jayden Hoyle, and a 37-year-old father of three, Uriel Reyes-Medina. The violent encounter began around 6 p.m. in the 3700 block of North Peoria Street, south of Interstate 70, where two sedans were traveling southbound.
Occupants of one vehicle opened fire on the car carrying Foster and Hoyle.
The gunfire caused the driver of the teens' sedan to lose control of the vehicle. The car continued, speeding over an overpass before crossing into the northbound lanes and colliding head-on with a pickup truck driven by Reyes-Medina. The suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored, mid-sized sedan, fled the scene and did not stop. Foster and Hoyle were pronounced dead at the scene, with the medical examiner later confirming that both teenagers died from gunshot wounds. Their deaths were officially ruled as homicides. Reyes-Medina was transported to a local hospital, where he died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
In the aftermath, law enforcement officials from the Denver Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives launched a joint investigation into the triple homicide. Investigators have stated their belief that three to four young men, who are known to law enforcement, are responsible for the shooting. However, they have indicated a need for more information to proceed with formal charges. While initial reports stated no arrests had been made, a later report from April 2025 mentioned that a 15-year-old had been arrested and charged in connection with Jayden Hoyle's murder. That same suspect was reportedly involved in other violent crimes.
A reward of up to $10,000 has been offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the deaths. Adrion Foster was remembered by his family as a promising young athlete who had dreams of playing basketball or football. He had also been exploring options to begin his college education early and had received acceptance into a junior college. The investigation into the tragic incident remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek justice for the victims and their families.
