In the early hours of February 17, 2003, the life of 31-year-old Clifton Glasper III was brought to a violent and sudden end inside his Denver residence. A Black male, Glasper was at home in his apartment on the 100 block of Washington Street, where he also worked as the building's manager. That night, one or more individuals forced their way into his home and shot him as he slept in his bedroom.
When Denver police officers responded to a 911 call about a possible home invasion and shooting, they discovered Glasper deceased at the scene.
The investigation that followed offered few immediate answers and no swift justice. Detectives found no indication of a robbery, leaving the motive behind the deadly intrusion a profound mystery. The prevailing theory among investigators was that the attack was not random and that the perpetrators likely knew Clifton Glasper personally, and had possibly been inside his apartment before. Despite this belief, the case grew cold over time, and the identity of the person or people responsible for his death remains unknown.
Clifton Glasper was a father to a son and a young daughter. His family was left to grapple with the shocking loss of a man they described as gentle and playful. In the years following his death, his case has remained open as part of the Denver Police Department's Cold Case Unit. Authorities have continued to ask for the public's help, hoping that someone will come forward with the information needed to solve the case and bring his killers to justice. To date, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified.
