In the early morning hours of July 18, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in Denver's LoDo neighborhood, leaving a family devastated and a community searching for answers. Dontrè Daizon Timothy 'Tre' Williams, a 23-year-old male, was killed in the triple shooting that also wounded two of his brothers. The incident occurred near 20th and Market Streets, a popular downtown area.
Family and friends, reeling from the sudden violence, gathered for a vigil near the scene of the
shooting to mourn the man they remember as a loving father, a protective brother, and a talented athlete. Williams was a father to five young children who were the center of his world. Described as goofy, caring, and big-hearted, he was known for always making sure those around him were taken care of. He had a passion for football and was a cornerback for the Mile High Sting, a local league that helps athletes prepare for college or arena football. His coach remembered him as an explosive player with a lot of fire and passion, a great teammate who the other players rallied around.
In the wake of the shooting, Denver police appealed to the public for information, stating that there were multiple shooters and multiple weapons involved. They urged any witnesses to come forward to help them determine who was responsible for Dontrè's death and why the shooting occurred. As his family grieved their profound loss, they too pleaded for anyone with information about the senseless act of violence to speak out and help bring justice for a life cut tragically short.
