In the early spring of 1992, a violent encounter in Denver tragically ended the life of 24-year-old Michelle Vinson, a White female. On the evening of March 28th, Vinson and a companion became involved in an altercation with a group of unidentified males near the intersection of East 11th Avenue and York Street. Following the dispute, Vinson and her friend departed in their vehicle.
As they drove away, they noticed another vehicle was following them closely.
In a sudden and brutal escalation of the earlier conflict, one or more of the occupants of the pursuing car opened fire on Vinson's vehicle. A bullet struck Vinson, inflicting a fatal wound. The gunshot injury caused her to lose control of her car and crash.
The assailants fled the scene and have never been identified. The Denver Police Department continues to investigate the homicide of Michelle Vinson as a cold case. No arrests have been made in the decades since her death, and the individuals responsible for her murder remain at large. Authorities have periodically requested that anyone with information regarding the incident come forward to help bring resolution to this long-unsolved crime.
