In the winter of 2018, the life of 43-year-old Ticoa Floyd-Brown was tragically cut short in Denver, Colorado. On the morning of December 15th, a Saturday, she was fatally shot in the Montbello neighborhood. The incident occurred around 9:35 a.m. in the 5000 block of Troy Street. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner would later confirm that a gunshot wound was the cause of her death, ruling it a homicide.
Responding to the scene, Denver Police officers made a swift arrest.
Randy Bourgeois, 52, was taken into custody at the location of the shooting around 10 a.m. and held for investigation of first-degree murder. According to a redacted police affidavit, Bourgeois himself had made 911 calls following the shooting. He was subsequently held in the Denver County Jail without bond.
While an arrest was made, the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting and the nature of the relationship, if any, between Ticoa Floyd-Brown and Randy Bourgeois were not immediately made public by law enforcement officials. During his initial interviews with investigators, Bourgeois reportedly declined to speak without a lawyer present.
