In the early morning hours of October 13, 2001, 14-year-old Jeremy Martinez was a passenger in a vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate-70 in Denver, Colorado. As the car neared the Pecos Street exit, a second vehicle pulled alongside, and an unknown assailant opened fire. A bullet struck Jeremy, gravely injuring him. The suspect's vehicle quickly fled the scene, disappearing into the night.
