In the spring of 2016, a life was tragically cut short in Denver, Colorado. Jairo Perez Bojorquez, a 30-year-old man, was in the 200 block of Osceola Street on April 22nd when he was fatally shot. The incident prompted an investigation by the Denver Police Department, which quickly focused on identifying a suspect in the homicide.
The investigation led authorities to Daniel Gutierrez, also 30 years old. He was subsequently arrested in connection with Perez Bojorquez's death.
The Denver District Attorney's Office formally charged Gutierrez with first-degree murder and second-degree assault. In addition to the murder of Perez, the charges against Gutierrez also stemmed from an alleged assault on another man with a chain on the same day.
Following his arrest, Gutierrez was held in custody without bond. A friend of Jairo Perez, who witnessed the shooting, later identified Daniel Gutierrez in a police photo array as the person who committed the murder. The case proceeded through the legal system, with court hearings scheduled to address the charges against Gutierrez. A witness to the events saw the murderer flee the scene after the shooting.
