In the early morning hours of August 6, 2007, Denver Police Department officers responded to reports of gunshots near the intersection of West Kentucky Avenue and South Raleigh Street in Denver, Colorado. Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old Francisco Raul Jurado-Mercado inside a vehicle, suffering from a severe gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later, on August 8, 2007.
