On the cold evening of December 19, 2008, in Commerce City, Colorado, a young man's life was cut short. Marco Escalera, a 22-year-old White male, was with his friends at the Parkway Liquor Store located at 6075 Parkway Drive around 11:15 p.m. Inside the store, a verbal altercation broke out between Escalera's group and other individuals.
