Shiloh Angel Bennett, an 18-year-old Black / African American male, tragically lost his life on March 24, 2024, in a triple shooting at a house party in Commerce City, Colorado. Born in Denver on October 12, 2005, Shiloh was known for his creative and humorous nature. From a young age, he showed an interest in how things worked, often taking apart toys to understand their construction. This curiosity later blossomed into a passion for music, specifically rapping.
His father, Douglas Bennett, supported his artistic endeavors by building a studio in their home. Shiloh, a student at Arvada High School, also enjoyed creating social media content and spending time with his friends.
The night of his death, Shiloh was at a large house party on East 69th Place that had been advertised on social media. Shortly before 2 a.m., gunfire erupted, with some neighbors reporting they heard nearly 30 shots. In the chaos that ensued, Shiloh was fatally wounded, and two other individuals were injured. His father later described him as 'a light that was taken from us way too soon.' Shiloh was an aspiring musician who went by the stage name 'Clockwork' and had performed at a venue in Denver just before his death. He is survived by his parents, siblings, and a soon-to-be-born daughter.
Months after the shooting, Shiloh's family is still seeking answers as no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified. The Commerce City police are actively investigating the case and have urged anyone with information to come forward. Frustrated by the lack of progress and the silence from the dozens of people who were at the party, his family and friends have taken action. A close family friend has been distributing hundreds of fliers throughout Colorado, and the family has offered an additional reward on top of the one offered by Crime Stoppers for information that leads to an arrest. In the wake of his death, a family friend is also working with lawmakers to propose 'Shiloh's Law,' which would aim to hold homeowners more accountable for large parties held on their property. The community continues to mourn the loss of a young man described as a beloved, creative, and vibrant individual.
