On the morning of June 11, 2012, the start of a typical workday in Commerce City, Colorado, took a grim turn. Employees arriving at a business located at 5001 E. 52nd Avenue noticed what they initially believed to be a transient man sleeping behind the building. As they moved closer, the stark reality of the situation became apparent with the sight of blood, prompting an immediate call to 911.
Responding officers from the Commerce City Police Department discovered not one, but two
bodies. Within a few feet of each other lay Antonio Aguilar-Hernandez, a 30-year-old male, and another man, Juan Montoya-Martinez. Both men had suffered from gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Aguilar-Hernandez was described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
The investigation into the double homicide has been ongoing since that day, but the case has grown cold. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest. The motive behind the killings remains unknown.
