In the winter of 2014, the mountain community of Snowmass Village was touched by sadness with the passing of Raymond Joseph Vieira. A young man of 23, Raymond’s life came to an end on February 26, 2014, in the town where he had experienced so much of the outdoors he loved. His final moments were marked by personal struggles, leaving behind a profound sense of loss for those who knew him.
Born in the nearby town of Aspen on November 12, 1990, Raymond was remembered for the happiness and
joy he brought into the lives of others. He was a familiar and friendly face to many, whether they knew him from his time at Aspen High School, Colorado Mountain College, or from his activities with the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club. His infectious smile and laugh were hallmarks of his personality, as was his unwavering loyalty to his friends and family.
Raymond possessed a deep passion for the outdoors, finding solace and excitement in snowboarding, biking, hiking, fishing, and camping. He had a unique sense of humor and a gift for making even the most serious people smile. Remembered as a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend, his passing left a void in the hearts of those who cherished him.
In the wake of his death, no information regarding any arrests or suspects was made public, as authorities did not indicate that his death was the result of foul play. The focus for his loved ones remained on remembering the vibrant and caring individual he was, a young man whose spirit was deeply connected to the majestic landscape of the Roaring Fork Valley.
