In the quiet community of El Jebel, Colorado, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 40-year-old Mayra Lorena Lopez, a female of Hispanic descent, on the night of July 12, 2014. She and her husband, Eliseo Lopez, 42, were fatally shot in their home in the Sopris Village subdivision. The couple’s two sons, aged 13 and 14, were present in the house at the time of the shooting but managed to escape unharmed. One of the sons called 911 after fleeing the residence.
