In the summer of 2016, a young man's life was tragically cut short in Greeley, Colorado. Jose Jaquez, a 25-year-old Hispanic male, was a resident of the city where he was born and raised. He was a family man, married with two daughters, and was known for his love of the outdoors, often enjoying barbecues, fishing, and camping with his loved ones. He was the middle son of five siblings and was remembered as a proud and caring father.
On the evening of July 23, 2016, the life that Jaquez had built was violently ended. Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of 26th Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jaquez suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to the North Colorado Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of Jose Jaquez led authorities to identify two suspects. The first, Lee Arthur Scott, 25, of the nearby town of Evans, was located and apprehended in California. As the investigation continued, a second individual, Marcello Jose Rodriguez, Jr. of Greeley, was also implicated in the crime. Rodriguez was subsequently arrested and faced a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Jaquez.
