In the early morning hours of July 13, 2018, Wayne 'Weezy' Broska, a 22-year-old male, was at JJ Raigoza Park off Maryland Avenue in Pueblo, Colorado. He was on the playground with a female witness when they were approached by a male and a female. After a brief conversation lasting about five minutes, the male shot Broska. Police responded to a 'shots fired' call and found Broska face down near the jungle gym.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries five days later on July 18, 2018.
The investigation into Broska's death led police to identify 19-year-old Christian Sena as the primary suspect, and he was subsequently charged with first-degree murder. The investigation was aided by tips from individuals and evidence gathered from social media. According to court documents, an individual came forward more than a month after the shooting with information linking Sena to the crime. This person reported being at a house where Sena and the female who was with him at the park returned after the shooting. The informant recalled hearing the female say to Sena, 'you shot him in the head,' during an argument and also remembered seeing Sena with a chrome handgun.
Further investigation into Sena's Facebook messages uncovered more evidence, including a potential motive. In a message to the female who was with him at the scene, Sena allegedly wrote, “Just know I smoked a n***a for you, 'cause I loved you.” An informant told investigators that Sena and Broska were involved in drug dealings with one another. It is believed that Sena may have killed Broska after Broska sold drugs to the female. The woman who was with Sena at the time of the shooting was questioned by investigators and confirmed many details of the story, but she denied that Sena was the one who pulled the trigger. However, her mother did implicate Sena in the shooting during her own police interview.
