In the summer of 2023, the life of 19-year-old Lazarus Luciano Vigil was tragically cut short in Pueblo, Colorado. On the evening of June 28th, at approximately 9:31 p.m., emergency services were dispatched to the 500 block of East Mesa Avenue following reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames. Witnesses at the scene also reported hearing the sound of gunshots just before the fire erupted.
Upon their arrival, first responders made a grim discovery.
Inside the burning car was a young man, later identified as Lazarus Vigil. He was quickly removed from the vehicle, and it was then that the full horror of the situation became apparent. He had sustained injuries that appeared to be gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the death of the male victim was immediately launched by Pueblo Police detectives, who began treating the case as a homicide. Their efforts led to a significant development nearly a month later. On July 27, 2023, a 13-year-old juvenile male was taken into custody by the Pueblo Police. A warrant for first-degree murder had been issued for the young suspect, who was subsequently booked into the Pueblo Youth Center.
