On the night of September 5, 2020, in the west Barnum neighborhood of Denver, Colorado, a burst of violence cut short the life of 39-year-old Alexander Dole. In the late hours, around 11 p.m., a fatal encounter unfolded in the 200 block of South Julian Street, leaving the man with a critical gunshot wound. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, providing immediate medical assistance and transporting him to Denver Health Medical Center.
Despite their efforts, Alexander Dole was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Denver Police Department began an immediate investigation into the shooting. In the direct aftermath of the incident, officers at the scene were able to apprehend a male suspect. Authorities later confirmed that they were not searching for any other individuals in connection with the homicide, indicating they believed they had the sole person responsible in custody. The suspect was taken into custody for investigation of first-degree murder, though his identity was not publicly disclosed.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and officially identified the victim as Alexander Dole. The cause of his death was determined to be a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was consequently classified as a homicide.
