Onjahnique Tahdase Taylor-Marie Williams, a 24-year-old Black/African American woman, was tragically killed on March 30, 2022, in Aurora, Colorado. In the early hours of that Wednesday, police responded to reports of multiple gunshots in a parking lot on East Mexico Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Onjahnique with a fatal gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family mentioned she had been visiting a friend's apartment in the area when the incident occurred.
Born on January 3, 1998, in Aurora, Onjahnique was remembered by her family as a vibrant and caring individual with a larger-than-life personality. A devoted mother to her two children, a son and a daughter, she was known for her selfless love and the quality time she cherished with them. Her parents described her as their only child and a 'wildflower' who was full of life and loved to make people laugh. She was a graduate of the Denver Public Schools system, where she had been recognized with numerous awards and was even a published author in two books as a child. At the time of her death, she was working in customer service at a Dollar Tree.
The investigation into her death is being handled by the Aurora Police Major Crimes Homicide Unit. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects and no arrests have been made in connection with her murder. Her family, devastated by what they termed a senseless act of violence, has pleaded for justice and for an end to such tragedies. They held a balloon release in her memory at Denver's City Park, a place that held sentimental value as it was where she had learned to ride her bike. The community continues to mourn the loss of a young mother whose life was cut short, leaving her family heartbroken and searching for answers.
