Macy, born on January 12, 2003, in Columbia, Missouri, was remembered for her radiant life that took her from the
Florida Keys to the woodlands of Missouri, and finally to the mountains of Colorado. A 2021 graduate of East High School in Denver, she had recently completed her studies in cosmetology at the Aveda Institute and was working at Voodoo Doughnut on Colfax Avenue, with plans to launch her new career. Friends and family recalled her as a sweet, kind, and comforting person with a brilliant mind and an enthusiastic curiosity.
In the wake of her death, Macy's family and friends have been enveloped by an outpouring of community support. Her mother has spoken out about the tragedy, hoping to raise awareness about domestic violence. According to her family, Macy's ex-boyfriend had threatened her less than two weeks before her death. Her mother believes that recently enacted gun laws in Colorado, which include expanded red flag laws and a waiting period for firearm purchases, might have saved her daughter's life. A GoFundMe campaign was established to assist the family with expenses.
