In the late hours of a Saturday in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a violent encounter in the parking lot of a Village Inn restaurant abruptly ended the life of 49-year-old Daniel Nieto. On August 22, 2015, Nieto, a male resident of Albuquerque, was shot and killed in what authorities would come to describe as a targeted attack, shattering the evening's calm and launching a homicide investigation that would slowly unravel a story of alleged betrayal and greed.
