Nikki Shae Bascom, a 31-year-old resident of Silver City, New Mexico, tragically lost her life on April 21, 2016. Her death was the result of a violent act perpetrated by her former partner, Mark Contreras, who was a captain with the Silver City Police Department. On the day of the incident, Contreras murdered Bascom before turning the gun on himself, ending his own life as well.
