On an autumn evening in Roswell, New Mexico, the life of 33-year-old Hispanic female Griselda Bernice Rascon was tragically cut short. On October 4, 2019, authorities discovered her inside her home suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.
The investigation into her death quickly focused on her boyfriend, 34-year-old Jesus Alberto Robles.
The Roswell Police Department identified him as the primary suspect and an arrest warrant was issued, charging him with first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. A manhunt for Robles ensued, and he was considered armed and dangerous.
Several days later, on October 9, 2019, the search for Robles came to an end in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Acting on information that he may be in the area, Las Cruces police located a pickup truck he was believed to be driving. When officers initiated a traffic stop, Robles and a passenger fled the vehicle on foot. After a brief chase, both individuals were apprehended. Robles was then held for Roswell police detectives to continue their homicide investigation.
In May 2021, Jesus Alberto Robles was convicted of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Griselda Rascon. He was subsequently sentenced to 20 years in prison for her murder. An appeal of his conviction was later filed but ultimately affirmed by the court.
