In the early hours of a spring morning in 2014, the life of 25-year-old Christopher Rosario of Dorchester was cut short by a sudden act of violence in Brockton, Massachusetts. On April 19, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Brockton police responded to calls of a man shot on Grove Street. When they arrived, they found Rosario inside a vehicle that had crashed into a fence surrounding the Landerholm Electric Company.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Rosario, a male, had been at the Morabeza Nightclub on Main Street with a passenger earlier that evening. After the club closed, the two left in the passenger's car, with Rosario driving. As they headed east on Grove Street, an unidentified vehicle pulled up alongside them, and shots were fired into their car. Struck by the gunfire, Rosario lost control of the vehicle, leading to the crash.
The passenger in the car was unharmed. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was tasked with performing an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death. In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement officials from both the Brockton Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.
Despite the initial investigation and public appeals for information, no suspects were ever publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in the years following the shooting.
