On August 11, 2014, in the Dorchester neighborhood, a report of a person shot sent Boston police officers to 93 Devon Street. Upon their arrival at approximately 9:32 p.m., they discovered a male victim, later identified as Dingle-Knight, suffering from a gunshot wound outside the location.
He was immediately transported to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation into the shooting pointed to two unidentified Black men wearing hoodies as potential suspects. According to reports, these two individuals were seen emerging from an alley across the street and opening fire. The Boston Police Department's homicide detectives began an active and ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. In the years following Dingle-Knight's death, his case has remained unsolved, joining the list of the city's cold cases.
The lack of resolution in her son's murder has been a source of continued pain and frustration for his mother, Annetta Dingle-Smith.
