On January 7, 2019, 39-year-old Michael Heath Stockberger of Toney, Alabama, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Madison County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the incident and administered CPR and other life-saving measures, but Stockberger was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigations by the Sheriff's Office suggested that the shooting was accidental.
