On August 24, 2019, in Toney, Alabama, 43-year-old Chad Wanca was fatally shot during a domestic dispute at his home. His 12-year-old son, Hunter, was also critically injured in the incident. Authorities responded to multiple 911 calls reporting the disturbance and, upon arrival, found Chad deceased and Hunter in critical condition; Hunter was subsequently hospitalized at Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham.
