In the early hours of a summer Saturday in South Holyoke, Massachusetts, the life of 31-year-old Alberto Xavier Saby Rivera was cut short by an act of gun violence. On August 16, 2014, Rivera, a male resident of Holyoke, was fatally shot outside a social club in the city.
