On January 16, 2014, at approximately 1:15 a.m., the New Bedford Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of 153 Myrtle Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Upon arrival, first responders found the victim, 23-year-old Patrick Alves, lying on the sidewalk in front of 153 Myrtle Street. Alves was suffering from gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
