On January 21, 2017, 27-year-old Jovani Jeudy was shot and killed on Nightingale Street in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m., and Jeudy was pronounced dead at the scene. This marked Boston's second homicide of the year. Jeudy’s death deeply affected his family, including his parents, two brothers, and sister. A visitation was held for him at George Lopes Funeral Home in Mattapan, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Angela Parish.
