On the evening of September 29, 2017, Maurice Lyons, a 39-year-old African-American/Black male, was in the Codman Square area of Dorchester, a neighborhood in Boston. At approximately 7:50 p.m., at the intersection of Washington and Park Streets, the night was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When police arrived at the scene, they found Lyons suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
