On the afternoon of May 22, 2023, a shocking act of violence cut short the life of Daniel Thomas Mayers, a 33-year-old Black/African American man. Just before 5 p.m., Boston police responded to reports of gunfire on Columbia Road in the Dorchester neighborhood. Arriving at the scene, they discovered Mayers inside his vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds.
