On a spring evening in Boston, on May 6, 2006, the life of 24-year-old Alexander Matthew Mendes was cut short by gun violence. The incident occurred around 10:22 p.m. at 13 Wendover Street in the Dorchester neighborhood. Responding to a report of shots fired, police officers discovered Mendes suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to Boston Medical Center, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
